Find BadBird's TreasureUPDATE – 09/27/08 FINDING THE 9th CLUE At the 9/26 meeting of BadBirds Treasure Hunting Society we studied 1915 maps of the area and checked references based on "Where did people go to cool off? Jumping in the river to sitting in movie theater or meat locker did not appear to make sense. Besides, It said "the Trail is growing cold". A member had already suggested the Ice house and the Ice House at US1 & Peachtree had been checked. Built in the 60s-70s it was a no-go. When questioned, the owner stated that before it was built, the Ice must have been shipped in from Melbourne or Titusville. Ice must be stored so we went back to the maps looking for a freight depot with a large cooler. A member studying an old insurance map noted that there was a Cocoa Ice & Electric Company in a fragment of a guide or index. It was under a heading of "C" with a "2" following the listing. Numerous Cs and 2s where investigated until we surmised that the C was the alphabetical heading and 2 was determined to mean "Map Sheet 2". Eventually a member located a 1915 long gone Ice Plant on the map. A treasure hunting team was dispatched as other members retired to the bank (now 401 Tavern) for a glass of wine. The site was searched with a metal detector and much debris was found. A coin hit found someone’s recent change loss of $.31. We decided to search for more change and nearby had a deeper hit. The find was a flask and old wooden spoon wrapped in rotting sailcloth. Included was another 1911 silver dime.
TRANSCRIPTION of The 9th Clue FOUND IN THE COLD SPOT 16 I always really like to go X (Writ by BadBird for Mate)
P.S. Sometimes Mate is such a loon, Each item is yours to have and hold, Take time to go and visit your Mother, 17. The Maid has suggested that we could flee, He could take to the dinghy and let her sink, Before one of three sailed into hell, But If the story makes you grieve, One thing holds true BadBird
END OF TRANSCRIPTION * first letter or letters are rotted away. We think- Harpy.
A very strange message including morality issues. It appears that Jealousy has been added to this tale of greed. IF you can cast any light on the meaning of this message, please join us at on Friday night, 6:00 PM at BadBirds Gallery. You may also email any ideas to kak@dol.net |
