Find BadBird's Treasure

The Examination of J.T. Bell's Tool Case on 08/08/08

Members of BadBird's Treasure Hunting Club examined Bell's tool case at 6PM on Friday, 8 August, 2008. When the tool drawer was pried out, a patch was found glued to the bottom of the drawer. Under the patch and preserved in wax paper were fragments of a deposit slip dated 1911 from the Hotel Indian River.

Written on the deposit slip was the following message:

2.

Hello my friend I’m J. T. Bell,
If you read this, then I’m in hell.
Spent twenty years on steam and sail,
Read on and hear a dead man’s tale.

BadBird’s crew was number one
At smuggling in that demon Rum.
But hurricanes can have their way,
The Seminole we lost that day.

Sleeping on a ship, rocked by ocean swell, No longer is my fate as I work in this Hotel.
A monkey looking North is the lower Measure, From this point sally forth, if you search for treasure.

J. T. Bell

P.S.

Who will spend the treasure? Only time will tell.
There is a clue I left for you beneath another Bell.
